The Milwaukee Country Club is a parkland course located in Wisconsin.
Charles Allison, the designer of this course, has specifically designed
several elevated greens with his unique touch. Deep and large bunkers
often heavily guard each green by biting deep into the green’s edges.
There is a river that comes into play on in 6 holes from No. 10 to No.

The second hole consists of a gentle downhill with a dogleg that bends to
the right. There are bunkers that are placed around the right corner of
the fairway, so that players should try to avoid on their tee shots. The
green is elevated, strongly slopes from back to front, and is guarded by
deep bunkers on both sides. |

The fifth hole consists of a dogleg bend to the right. There are four fairway
bunkers, both on the left and right, which await players off their errant
tee shots. There is also dense trees that runs along on the right side.

A fairway bunker, at around 240 yards to the right off the tee, comes into
play in this uphill par 4..If players decide to play safe to hit toward
the left on their approach shots to avoid the large bunker protecting from
the front to the right of the green, they may find their balls inside a
hidden bunker to the left of it.

A signature hole that is a very short, strategic and risk/reward par
four. Off the tee shots, players hit over a swale on the fairway with
well-placed three bunkers on the right. The green that is surrounded by
four bunkers. Players should decide whether to use a driver off the tee
shot to get their ball near the green or to play safe by laying up with
a FW woods or iron. The American GOLF Magazine in 2000 (latest version)

It is a short, dogleg to the right, par five with a river running down
the left side, reachable in two shots for long hitters. The tee shots
are downhill to hit onto the narrow fairway with three fairway bunkers
on the right side. Both the left sides of the landing areas on the fairway
and green, off the second shots, slope sharply off, so played should aim
toward the right edge of the green on the second shots.

It is a 20-minute drive from Milwaukee and 1.5 hours
from Chicago O'Hare Airport to get to the Milwaukee Country Club. The
course is about a five minutes car ride from the Milwaukee Four Points
By Sheraton hotel.
The original golf club was first established in 1894 on a different
location. However, Charles Allison designed the current course in 1927.
Although it is said to be a Harry Colt & Charles Allison design,
Harry Colt was in England when this course was being designed and never
visited the location, making the course solely Alison's design. Robert
Trent Jones Sr. remodeled the course as part of the 1969 Walker Cup
(an amateur's competition between American and British golfers). What
surprised me the most was the fact that the restaurant is inside the
locker room.
Golf Magazine ranked Milwaukee CC as the 75th in the US Best 100 in
2015. The golf review website The Top 100 Golf Course of the World (top100golfcourses.com)
ranked this course as the second best course, out of 500, in all of
Wisconsin State in 2016.
During his nine-year stay in America, a British designer Charles Alison
designed over 20 golf courses. Other courses he designed in the States
include Century CC, CC of Detroit, Sea Island GC, Davenport CC, and
others. He also worked for 3 months in Japan on Hirono
GC and Kawana
GC, both of which are selected in 2015 GOLF Magazine’s World's Best
100 Courses.
