This is a links course overlooking
the ocean on most holes. Due to its nature, you must contend with the course
layout as well as the prevailing wind. The course layout is really challenging
and many holes utilize the ocean as a stunning backdrop. However, it is
regrettable to say that the course condition was poor, especially, the fairway
condition. Believe it or not, there was not enough grass forcing us to hit
most shots from bare grounds. The course was severely difficult not because
of its intrinsic layout but the poor grasses condition where we needed to
hit delicate pitch & approach shots around the greens from the bare
grounds for most of times. I want to see a major improvement of the overall
course condition.

A slightly downhill par 3. Feels like I was hitting toward the ocean. A
bunker protecting the front right of the green is in play. |
|
|
A right dogleg, very long par 4. A left to right
ball should be avoided as there is a bush on the right side that is hidden
from the tee. The green is double-tiered with a sharp drop between right
and left. A par here is like a birdie on the other holes. |

A long and straight par 4. The tee
shot is slightly uphill and the second shot is slightly downhill. The tee
shot needs to be long and accurate as the landing area is narrow. The fairway
80 yards in front of the green is squeezed by ravines on both sides, so
you need to lay up short of the ravines if your tee shot isn’t good. |

A downhill par 3 with the ocean on
the left. 3 bunkers in front of the green and a natural beach bunker guarding
the left and rear sides of the green are in play. The green slopes gently
from front to back, so unless you hit the green with a well-spun ball, it
often roll s down to the natural beach behind the green. This leaves you
with a very touchy approach shot. The right club selection is important
but difficult depending on the direction and strength of the prevailing
wind. |

A relatively long, straight par 4.
You should avoid the long natural beach bunkers on the right side seashore.
It’s best to play safe and aim the left side of the fairway on the tee and
second shots. The fairway from 100 yards in front of the green is squeezed
by the beach bunkers on both sides, so you need to hit a high ball onto
the green on the second shot. |

A slight dogleg to the left, par 4. A ravine comes in play from the left,
250 yards off the tee. If you use a fairway wood or a long iron, the hole
becomes more straight. The second shot is over a ravine. Several bunkers
in front of and right & left of the green wait your errant second shot.

It takes a little less than 2 hours by car from both Dalian and airport.
A new highway will be completed in the autumn of 2007, which will shorten
the traveling journey to a little over 1 hour. A big bath is available.
Anyone can play from the longest tees.
