This is a flat course built along the ocean. The front 9 is easy due to an open layout with less trees while the back 9 is challenging as mature trees come into play. Most holes are designed to parallel the seashore, so you can enjoy the beach view during your play.

A very long hole with a slight dogleg to the left 120 yards off the green.

4th Par 3 181 yards
A par 3 over a lake. The front side of the green faces the lake. When you avoid the water and use more lofted club, a bunker behind the green will await your big shot.

5th Par 4 437 yards
A “S” shaped difficult hole with a slight dogleg to the left followed by a dogleg to the right. The front of the green is protected by a very deep bunker and you should definitely avoid this bunker which is 5 meters (17 ft.) deep and is the deepest in Malaysia. If you get caught in the bunker, not only saving par but saving bogey will become difficult.

A very short par 4. A carry of 180 yards is needed to clear water off the tee. The landing area of the tee shot is tight and water in front of the green will come into play.

14th Par 3 150 yards
A “signature hole”. The green is set out on a beach. This is not very difficult hole but is one of the most scenic and picturesque. The green is guarded by long stretch of beach sand trap that is the longest in Malaysia. This sand trap turns into a water hazards when the tide is up or during the monsoon season, which requires a full water carry to the green. This hole is voted as the second most scenic hole in Malaysia after Kota Permai G&CC (Hole #2) by Golf Malaysia readers’ polls in 2002.

15th Par 5 480 yards
A dogleg to the left. The fairway is very narrow and guarded by dense trees on both sides, so very accurate shots are needed on this demanding hole. Because it is a short par 5, it is reachable in 2 to give you a big chance of birdie. However, one false shot could cause you hitting 7 or 8 easily. This hole is not a good one because the target areas of each shot is too tight but it could be fun to play for advanced players as there are so many club selections to choose from on the tee, second and third shots.

A straight hole along the shoreline. You need to pay attention to a lake on the right side of the fairway. The coastline on the left side of the hole is scenic.

It takes 40 minutes by flight from Kuala Lumpur to Kuantan followed by another 90 minutes drive from Kuantan or 4 hours drive from Kuala Lumpur. The course is in the 5-satr resort and you might like to jump into the pool after the play. We stayed at the Club Med Charting Beach with my family and it took 45 minutes to get there by taxi. I could freely choose the tees to play.

The same company own this seaside course and Awana Genting G&CC which is located 1700 meters (5600 ft.) above sea level. The course is measured in yards which is rare in Malaysia where meters are commonly used in golf courses.

The other Muhammad Kamel Yassin course in Malaysia are Meru Valley G&CC and Unipertama GC.
