The course is set out on a hill 500 meters (1600 ft.) above the sea level.
It has a challenging layout. The designer uses the natural terrain well
, making the course suitable for advanced players. The front 9 have an
abundance of water i.e. lakes and rivers while the back 9 are hilly, with
woodland and bunkers. Most greens are elevated, thus requiring accurate
approach shots. Bunkers protecting greens are very deep, so you need to
exercise good course managements to avoid them. The natural mountain views
coupled with excellent landscaping in the overall golf course make the
course a real gem.

A sharp dogleg to the right that bends almost 90 degrees. The downhill tee
shot is intimidating as water hazards on both sides tightens the landing
area. The green is sharply elevated and you should avoid bunkers in front
of the green which is as deep as 5 meters (16 ft.). |
|
|
A straight, long par 5. The landing area off the tee is narrow with bushes
on the left and a river on the right. To hit the green on regulation,
accuracy as well as big carries is required on all 3 shots. The green
is turtle-back shaped with elevated center. I luckily came across a train
going through the famous railway bridge behind the green.

A signature hole with an island green. The green slopes from back to front.
This par 3 is not long but the target is tiny. From the tee ground, the
green is a spectacle as it is located in the middle of a large lake. When
your shot miss the green, your ball will find nothing but the water, so
it is needless to say that an accurate shot is needed on this hole. |

|
A straight hole. The tee shot is over local plants. This relatively short
par 4 is surrounded by woods that help the hole look sharp, and in fact
it is narrow. The green slopes sharply from right to left. |
|
|
A straight hole with a river on the left and a lake on the right. It
is safer for a long hitter to use a fairway wood off the tee as the landing
area is narrow. The green is highly elevated with a deep bunker protecting
the front right of the green. The hole is officially 442 yards long but
the length has been reduced to become a short 352-yard par 4 by taken
away the long teeing grounds.

A dogleg to the left, short and beautiful par 4. A downhill tee shot must
be accurate as water hazards on both sides come into play. As long as the
tee shot is successful, birdie is attainable because you can use a wedge
on the approach shot. The green slopes from back to front. |
|
|
A slight uphill. The green is raised like a big mound by 7 meters (23
ft.), and has strong undulations. Unless you hit the green on regulation,
it is difficult to save par.
|
|
A 90 degrees dogleg to the right。A slightly downhill tee shot needs a 230-yard
carry to clear a lake. The green slopes from back to front with well positioned
bunkers on both sides. |
|
|
A straight hole with the strong uphill tee shot and back downhill on the
second shot and thereafter. When you hit an errant tee shot to right or
left, it could easily end lost , so an accurate shot is needed. The second
shot is blind, which is a drawback. A creek crosses in front of the green.
You will hit the third shot from a difficult downhill lie onto the green
surrounded by bunkers. |
|
|
A straight, difficult hole with tight fairway. The fairway slopes from right
to left, so you hit the demanding second shot from a side-hill lie. The
green slopes sharply from back to front and a bunker guarding the right
is in play.
|
|
A par 3 over water. The green is wide but short, not giving you much depth.
The front side of the green borders the water and the green is only 10 yards
deep, so the right club selection is important on this hole.

It is a 1-hour drive both from Chiang Mai and Chiang Mai Airport. A wet
sauna and spa & massage services are available. A hotel is adjacent.
I could choose freely the tees to play from.
