The Kirimaya Golf Club’s course is a hilly and does not have too many
ups and downs. Its location, the Khao Yai national park, is known to be
one of sites of the world heritage. The course has a very typical Jack
Nicklaus design; big long bunkers, dogleg holes, trees without out-of-bounds
stakes, and even bushes. There is even the typical Jack Nicklaus water
hazards that are all placed strategically throughout the course. This
fully creates the strategic lay out of this course. Unlike a normal layout,
which usually goes back to the club house after the 9th, hole, the 9th
green here is located the farthest from the club house, and returning
to it from the 10th Hole. This gigantic layout also creates the favorable
feature

The 3rd hole is a straight but challenging par 5. The fairway is lined
by tropical rain forests on both sides of the course. Players can see
the Khao Yai mountains in the far horizon, creating a unique ambience
to the scores natural environment. There is a body of water around 310
yards away from the tee box which players should consider on their tee
shot. Furthermore, there is another body of water with large lotus plants
placed in the landing area of the second shot. Players will need to decide
whether to layup with an iron to be safe or attack with a fairway wood
to get near the green on the left. The green is horizontally long and
ball receiving and the front of the green is facing the water of lotus
making it a very challenging hole.

|
This par 3 requires players to hit across a large bush. The green is horizontally
long and inclined to the left. |
|
|
The 8th hole is a par 5 with a slight dogleg to the left. The tee shot
requires accuracy in order to avoid the bush on the right and the two
bunkers on the left. On the second shot, players will see a body of water
on the left and the bunker on the right. Furthermore, the ball will need
to gain enough distance in order to overcome a dry creek placed in the
center of the hole. Guard bunkers are in the front left and front right
of the putting green. There is also a body of water is just left of the
green. Players should also note that the left pin position would make
the hole more difficult.
|
|
|
|
|
This par 5 is an almost perfect straight and long hole. The tropical forests
on both sides of the fairway makes the hole look narrower and this, in turn,
may influence the players decision in both the the first and the second
shots. To make matters more challenging, the landing area of the second
shot will between bunkers. Players should be wary for the greens elevation
when putting.
|
|
|
The 12th hole is a relatively long par 3. A huge bunker with over 100 yards
in depth lays the right front of the green. Furthermore, there are two bunkers
on the left that guards the green. Players should also be careful for the
bush that is placed at the back of the green. |
|
|
This 13tt hole is a 406-yard par 4 with a dogleg that bends to the right.
There are two bunkers on the left that will influence the outcome of the
tee shot. For long-hitters, there is a large bunker more than 100 yards
in length towards the right of the green that should be avoided at all
costs. Another large and very deep bunker guards the right side of the
green making it very difficult to escape out of if players do accidentally
land their ball inside. Lastly, the green is oval and slightly undulated.
|
|
|
|
|
This par 4 a relatively long and straight hole with the second shot being
a downhill shot. The green slops from back to front. |
|
|
The 16th hole is a par 4 with sharp dogleg to the right. There is a body
of water on both sides when players hit their tee shot. If players look
at around 300 yards in the distance, they will see a tall tree with many
branches. For long-hitters, if the tee shot goes to the left, the tree will
stymie the ball and this will make it difficult for players to aim towards
the green. The green slops from back to the front and the right side of
the green is surrounded by a body of water. |
