Gunung Raya Golf Resort
It is a hillside course surrounded by mountains. The course is laid out on a former rubber plantation. The mountains are very close to some holes, giving you a tremendous impact. Although the distance is 7000 yards, overall it is an easy resort course. 3 of the Par 3 are more than 210 yards long. |

A straight hole. The tee shot is over water and the second shot is over a river. The river crosses the fairway some 70 yards in front of the green. The green is narrow with a well-positioned bunker on the left. | |||

It takes a 40-minute drive from the Langkawi airport and a 10-minute drive from Kuah. The distance is in meters and I have converted it into yards. I could play freely from the longest, back tees. There are currently 3 courses in Langkawi, this Gung Raya GR, The GC Datai Bay and Langkawi GC. I didn’t play Langkawi GC this time as the course dioes’nt have a good reputation. The other Max Wexler designed courses in Asia are Sentosa GC – Tanjong Course, National Service R&CC, Jurong CC in Singapore, Laguna Phuket GC, Palm Hills GC in Thailand, and Glenmarie G&CC, Royal Johor CC, SAFRA RCC in Malaysia. |
