It has two 18-holes championship courses, Canyon
and Lakes Course. Developed from an old tin mine and rubber plantations,
both courses are molded around the existing canyons and rubber plantations,
with minimal disruption to the natural landscape. For the Lakes Course,
the water hazards come into play on 17 out of 18 holes. It is a mixture
of water-filled canyons created by open cut mining with its natural land
flow left relatively unchanged. Its front 9 holes run through a landscape
of lakes and natural canyons, whilst the back 9 weaves its way through
scenic lakes and woodlands of rubber trees.

A par 3 over the water. Water comes in to play not only in front of the
green but also on its left. The green is 60 yards long from the right front
to the left back. |

A difficult par 4 with 2 fairways, upper and
lower on the left and right. The second shot is over a valley lying 70 yards
short of the green. |

A dogleg to the left par 4. Both sides of the fairway face water hazards.
The second shot needs to carry over the water, and the bunkers in front
of the green are in play. The green is a little elevated. |

A beautiful par 3 over water. It is long and challenging as the water and
a bunker in front of green and another bunker behind come into play. Both
accuracy and distance are required. |

A long par 5 with a dogleg to the right for the remaining
150 yards to teh green. The approach shot is over a ravine. The palcement
of the second shot is crucial on this hole to hit the third shot from a
good angle. |

You start with slightly uphill tee shot. Driving
to the left of the tall trees in the center of the fairway is the best route.
The lake is at the front, right of the green and the fairway slopes from
left to right, so the second shot must not hit the right side. |

A straight par 4. A drive on the left side is
better in order to have clear view for the second shot. The green is elevated
and the bunker on the front left of the green is 2.5 meters (8 ft.) deep.

A very long and very difficult par 4. There two fairways, upper and lower.
A long hitter can hit the green in regulation if the demanding second
shot over the water is successful. If you decide to lay up, the landing
area is very tight due to the lake on the left, so an accurate second
shot is needed.
The green is relatively small and saving par on this hole is as tough
as making a birdie on many other holes. When the course was opened in
1999, there was a bunker at the back of the small green, too. But it made
the hole too tough with water in the front and the bunker at the back,
so it was removed.

Need to be accompanied by a member or to apply for a golf tour sponsored
by an airline company in order to play here. The meals at the restaurant
were good and the club has Jacuzzis, steam room, sauna and massage facilities.
It takes only 5 minutes from the Phuket Airport by car. The hotel is adjacent
to the golf club and the room with the golf course view is recommendable,
although a little more expensive.

The Canyon Course that is another 18 holes is the one of the best among
the courses designed by Japanese who has done oversee works. The other
courses of the designer Yoshikazu Kato are Treasure
Hill G&CC in Thailand and The Southern Links GC in Okinawa, Japan.
I have heard that he was worried by the maintenances keeping the course
as great as the current conditions, so he decided to live in Thailand
from Japan. He is still an advisor of the golf club.
According to the top100golfcourses.co.uk
site,Blue Canyon CC (Lakes) was ranked 12th out of the 270 (as of 2015)
courses in all of Thailand during its 2015 evaluation.
