Phuket Country Club
has 27 holes, consisting of this 9-hole New Course and 18-hole Old
Course. The designer is the same. There are different clubhouses and there’s
a 5-minutes ride between 2 courses. The Old Course is suitable for beginners &
intermediate players while the New Course is for advanced players. The New Course
is flat with strategically placed water hazards, which requires accurate shots
and good course management.

| A slight dogleg to the left hole
with a lake on the left. The lake cuts in front of the green and making it necessary
for the third shot to clear the water. The green slopes from back to front. It
is narrow but 50 yards deep. |

| A dogleg to the right par 5. After a tee shot over a lake,
the fairway curves to the right .The green is also swung further to the right.
Long hitters can reach the green in 2 by making short cuts over the lake. |

| A short par 3 over water. Bunkers
around the green are in play. The elevated tee offers a pretty good view. |

| A slight dogleg to the right.
It is a long & difficult par 4. There are two attacking routes off the tee.
A creek runs 220-240 yards off the tee on the right fairway and 260-280 yards
on the left fairway. Long hitters should hit onto the left fairway in spite of
the longer route to avoid the water. If you choose the right fairway, you need
to hit onto the center of the fairway: otherwise, trees encroaching from right & left will hinder your second shot. |

| A sharp
dogleg to the right which bends from 100 yards in front of the green. A series
of bunkers await your poor second shot. If your ball is in the bunker, the third
shot is more difficult as it requires a full water carry. The green is shaped
like a peninsula protruding into the lake. Wrong distance on the approach to the
green will end up as a victim to the water hazard. The green floating on the lake
is picturesque. |

It
is a 45 minutes ride from Phuket Airport. You need to be accompanied by a member
or to book through travel agencies. I have introduced only 18-hole golf
courses. However this 9-hole course was too good and I include it as an exception.
